1. Hootsuite

Hootsuite was one of the first social media management tools ever created for planning posts. Over time, Hootsuite has grown to provide a variety of additional plans to fit businesses of every size. With Hootsuite’s free plan, a user can connect up to three social media profiles and schedule up to 30 posts at one time. And that includes Instagram! If you want access to their analytics, ads, or custom links features, you will have to upgrade to a paid plan, of course. However, if you’re just looking for the fundamentals, Hootsuite has you covered.

2. Later

Later titles itself as “The #1 Instagram Scheduler”. But the tool allows the scheduling of Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest posts as well. Most recently, Later added the Instagram Stories scheduling feature, making it easier for users to plan content at all levels (available for upgraded plans). Users can schedule 30 Instagram; Facebook; and Pinterest posts, and 50 Tweets each month. However, some advanced features, like scheduling carousel posts, require upgrading to a paid plan.

3. Buffer

Buffer formerly was a close second to Hootsuite in terms of easy and free social media scheduling. However, a company update in March 2018 announced that Buffer would be “simplifying the Buffer Free plan (formerly known as the Individual plan) so that users can more easily understand and realize the value of Buffer.” Read: dwindling the free option down to bare bones as a way to force users to upgrade to a paid plan.

Nevertheless, Buffer does still offer a few basic social media scheduling capabilities at no cost. A user is able to connect up to three social media profiles including Google+ and LinkedIn. Users also have access to Buffer’s “best time to post” feature. And best of all: an unlimited amount of scheduled posts.

4. Tweetdeck

Tweetdeck is Twitter’s embedded scheduling capability. Tweetdeck allows for unlimited scheduling, visibility into trending topics and direct messages. This platform only provides Twitter scheduling, however. So if you need a management tool for other social media platforms, you’ll have to use something else.
